Which languages does the word counter support?
Chinese, English, digits and mixed Chinese-English text. Chinese characters, English letters, English words, digits, and Chinese/English punctuation are counted separately.
What is the difference between characters and Chinese characters?
Characters counts every visible character (Chinese characters, letters, digits, punctuation). The no-spaces version strips spaces, newlines and tabs. Chinese characters counts only Chinese characters, excluding letters, digits and punctuation.
How are English words counted?
A continuous run of letters and digits delimited by whitespace or punctuation counts as one word. For example, Hello World counts as 2 words, and a hyphenated word like well-known counts as 1.
Is my text uploaded to a server?
No. All counting happens locally in your browser. Your text never leaves your device, so it is safe to paste confidential content.
How much text can I count at once?
There is no hard limit, but we recommend staying under 500,000 characters for the smoothest experience. Counting is real-time and takes longer on very large texts.
